
Legislative Agenda Set, Lobbying Has Begun The Virginia Education Association has set their Legislative Agenda for the upcoming General Assembly session, which begins in January 10, 2001. The top priorities are:
Locally, PWEA is sponsoring a legislative dinner to talk with our elected officials about our Legislative priorities and Meg Gruber and Alan Caudill are scheduling meetings with our legislators as well.
- supporting Education Reform,
- Attracting, Training, and Retaining the Best and Brightest Educators for Virginia's Children,
- Maintaining Safe and Orderly schools, and
- Child Safety.
Here's how you can help.
- Read your PWEA legislative e-mail.
- Call the VEA hotline at 1-800-334-1914 daily for updates during the General Assembly session. (1/10 - 2/24)
- Stay in touch with your legislators on important issues.
- Track bills at http:leg1.state.va.us.lis.htm.
- Go to Richmond to lobby on January 15th or January 22nd. Contact PWEA for more details on these events.
